This graphic novel is a beautifully and cleverly illustrated narration of human history as we understand it today。 As I understand， much of the content was derived from Yuval Noah Harrari's book of the same name - though I cannot comment too much on the difference in content as I have not read his previous books （yet）。 This graphic novel served well as a way to learn about the history without feeling intimidated by heavy or dry academic language - much of the illustrations and script of the char This graphic novel is a beautifully and cleverly illustrated narration of human history as we understand it today。 As I understand， much of the content was derived from Yuval Noah Harrari's book of the same name - though I cannot comment too much on the difference in content as I have not read his previous books （yet）。 This graphic novel served well as a way to learn about the history without feeling intimidated by heavy or dry academic language - much of the illustrations and script of the characters adds to a very engaging storyline and helps to keep readers like myself interested。 I would recommend this book to youth and adults alike with an interest in understanding history， and with a curiosity into the course of human development - and I look forward to future additions to this graphic novel series。 。。。more

Nice。 I found it weird how the main guys face was completely white， but apart from that， the graphics and colours were really beautiful。 Very interesting to think about out ancestors and only vered slightly into "this is what makes humans unique in the animal kingdom" territory。 I felt weird about the presentation of Australia's first people。 I'm less well versed in the indigenous people of the Americas， but I know that the cultures of 60-80 thousand years ago in Australia are the same cultures Nice。 I found it weird how the main guys face was completely white， but apart from that， the graphics and colours were really beautiful。 Very interesting to think about out ancestors and only vered slightly into "this is what makes humans unique in the animal kingdom" territory。 I felt weird about the presentation of Australia's first people。 I'm less well versed in the indigenous people of the Americas， but I know that the cultures of 60-80 thousand years ago in Australia are the same cultures that are alive today （despite ongoing cultural genocide）。 I think it's really important that people realise that these are actual people alive today。 Some of the tone in the last section of the book didn't allow for the complexity of the issues， like how Aboriginal people in Australia have been historically extremely knowledgable about land management。 There feels to me like a side of the story missing。 But a pleasant read。 i wonder how many more volumes there will be？ 。。。more

Everyone should read this！ Great look at how sapiens became the dominant humans， spread around the world， and the impact that has had on other species。 The graphic novel approach is fantastic and dramatically enhances the content。 Loved it！

A wonderfully accessible book for kids and grownups alike that share the incredible evolution of sapiens， flaws and all， and the complex relationship with the planet and its other species。 The ultimate lesson in this first volume is that humans destroyed a vast number of species， unintentionally， over thousands of years。 Today， we’re doing the exact same thing， but this time thanks to the information we have in front of us， we have no excuse。 Can’t wait to read future volumes in this series。

Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari was an international best seller。 I've read it， but it's a long book and a complex topic， and to be honest I can't remember much of what I read。 But this， the graphic novel， was REALLY good。 It has a hardback cover and 200 plus pages so it doesn't look like a comic。 But it's a graphic novel， with illustrations， speech bubbles， super hero characters - all ways of making the topic readable and accessible to a wider audience。This is Volume 1， and it takes us through som Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari was an international best seller。 I've read it， but it's a long book and a complex topic， and to be honest I can't remember much of what I read。 But this， the graphic novel， was REALLY good。 It has a hardback cover and 200 plus pages so it doesn't look like a comic。 But it's a graphic novel， with illustrations， speech bubbles， super hero characters - all ways of making the topic readable and accessible to a wider audience。This is Volume 1， and it takes us through some of the recent theories about human development - what happened to the other Human species; who were they; where did they live？ How do we really know how they lived - what are we basing this evidence on？ Also what was the consequences of our evolution and our journey out of Africa？ Perhaps it suffers a wee， tiny bit from trying to cover all bases - there might be adults who aren't appreciative of some of the cartoon characters who pop up to explain something; equally there might be younger readers （13+） who struggle with some of the theories。 But overall， this was fun， illuminating and a great way of educating and entertaining。 。。。more
